Its been a while since I posted something on Japanese, though I have been keeping up on my studies. Learning Kanji has given me some amazing insight into the finer workings of Japanese words. Its actually pretty cool seeing how the meanings of a Kanji combined in a combination make a word.
For example -
映画館 (えいがんかん) - Movie Theater
映 - Projecting/Reflection
画 - Picture/Drawing
館 - Building
So a Projecting Picture Building is a movie theater. Neat!
Heres another example -
食料品 (しょくりょうひん) - Food Stuffs (Like an inventory/stock of food at a restaurant, or grocery store)
食 - Food/Eat
料 - Fee/Material/Ingredient
品 - Quality/Article/Item
So Food Material Items are Food stuffs!
