Home Brew – Peppered Ale


Why not make two.

Ingredients —

  • 3.75lbs lager LME
  • 500g light DME
  • 1 cup demerara sugar
  • 2 oz Cascade hops (60 minutes)
  • 1/2 tsp of yeast nutrient (flameout)
  • 2 tablespoons of white pepper (flameout, stirred vigorously for 5 minutes)
  • Windsor Ale Yeast, rehydrated with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 tsp of yeast nutrient

What really concerns me about this brew is that after I added the pepper at flameout, the aroma went from ‘delicious homebrew’ to ‘horse stable’.

I hope those yeast know what they are doing or this beer is actually going to taste like shit.

Please oh please don't taste like these guys smelled!
