Beer
It is no secret that beer is one of my greatest joys in life. It seems quite opposite over my other passions, fitness and nutrition, but I believe a balance of pleasure and work is required to stave of madness.
Over the past several years I have attempted to try as many beers of all styles and breeds I could find. Over time my tastes have changed and grown to make me respect good beer, though to be honest I was still quite ignorant as far as beer education was concerned.
Only when I began to delve into the demanding hobby of home brewing I really began to understand what the components of a beer were. The hops, malts, yeast strain and even the water contribute to the flavours, mouth-feel and aroma of a beer.
Though recently I have focused most of my beer energy on brewing versus tasting, I still greatly enjoy experiencing a new brew from my favorite local liquor shop, Willow Park Wine and Spirits whenever I can.
Whenever someone discovers my love of beer and asks me that aged old question; “What’s your favorite beer?”, I can truthfully answer that its simply the beer I have not tried yet.
Three cheers for beer.
