Beer Review – Wild Rose Velvet Fog

Name: Wild Rose Velvet Fog

Origin: Calgary, Canada

Style: Wheat Ale

Appearance:  Like so many of Wild Rose’s brews, this one also produced zero head on the pour. The color is a pale yellow and just like the name, quite foggy.

Taste:  The smell reminds me of young, fermenting beer, with some earthy smells in lingering in the background. The ale starts sweet, with definite fruity flavours, primarily peaches. It finishes with a dark tea-like, mildly bitter taste.

Mouth Feel: The beer is foamy and sharp on the tongue.

Final Thoughts (3 out of 5):  This is a good, solid drinking ale though it lacks a lot of the character most wheat ales have.  Still it is a very easy drinking beer and good from someone not accustomed to its much, much stronger and flavourful brothers.
