Beer Review – Steam Whistle Pilsner

Name: Steam Whistle Pilsner (Draft)

Origin: Canada, Toronto

Style: Pilsner (Czech Pilsner 5%)

Appearance: Though I did not see the beer poured it still had around half of an inch of soft head upon arrival to the table. The beer is a light, very clean yellow colour.

Taste: Though the odors are are somewhat metallic, Steam Whistles’ Pil is nothing of the sort in taste. The beer has strong notes of honey, mixed in with a combination of bread and cracker like flavours. The beer finishes with its honey notes and a lemon like citrus flavour, balancing it out with some needed bitterness.

Mouth Feel:  It is a very clean, soft drinking beer. It is not overly carbonated and finishes dry with a short, enjoyable aftertaste.

Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5):  Far better on tap then in the bottle, this beer is probably one of the best Pilsners available in Canada. I am not a huge fan of Pils in the first place, though this is one I would pick up at the beer store if nothing new was available for sampling.
