Beer Review – Schneider Weisse Original

Name: Schneider Weisse Original

Origin: Kelhiem, Germany

Style: Weisse Beer (German Wheat Ale)

Appearance:  It pours a brown-orange colour that is clear and fizzy. There was almost no head at all on the pour, though a tiny ring of foam does sit on the edge of the glass.

Taste:   The beer has very strong, floral aromas. It tastes not unlike its odor, with strong notes of something spicy and herbal. This Weisse beer also has something of a sweet, citrus like flavors mixed into it but finishes with a long lasting, lemon-like sour aftertaste.

Mouth Feel:   Soft and not overly carbonated, this beer is easy to drink though the sour aftertaste takes away from the beers refreshing properties.

Final Thoughts (2 out of 5):  Though the beer improved as it warmed, the strong floral tastes and very sour finish were quite unpleasant to my own palette.
