Name: Rogue’s Juniper Pale Ale
Origin: USA
Style: Pale Ale/Fruit Ale (5.2%)
Appearance: The beer is a dull, slightly clouded dark yellow colour. It pours with a big, foamy head that survives the entire session.
Taste: The aroma is light and barely noticeable. There is something of a grassy, metallic smell detected but in all honesty it is quite hard to define. This pale ale starts sweet and bready, with easily noted flavours of berries, which are most likely Juniper, though I have never tasted one before. It finishes bitter and pine-like with a long lived, lingering aftertaste.
Mouth Feel: Soft and foamy in the mouth, though surprisingly still sharp on the tongue. It is medium bodied.
Final Thoughts (4 out of 5): Some fruit ales can be more like a cider or juice rather then a beer, having its malt and hop qualities masked entirely by overwhelming fruit flavours. This beer on the other hand gives a nice balance of pale ale flavours and noticeable berry flavours.
