Name: Red Seal Ale
Origin: California, USA
Style: Amber Ale (5.5%)
Appearance: A clear copper-red coloured ale, it pours with an attractive foamy head that does shrink, but sticks around for the entire session.
Taste: The aroma is floral and spicy, with notes of roses and apples. This amber ale has a rich palette, its flavours starting off with apples and toffee. These give way to its much stronger floral hop based flavours; Bitter citrus and pepper like spices are noted, Red Seal finishes with a pleasant, short lived grapefruit bitter aftertaste.
Mouth Feel: A surprisingly sharp drinking ale, it is noticeably carbonated and filling. Medium bodied and refreshing.
Final Thoughts (5 out of 5): This is one of those mind blowing beers I get the rare chance of trying. To be honest I have not had an ale of this quality since I stumbled into a pub in England last year while trapped overseas (some of you may remember the Volcano indecent that left all of Europe grounded). From start to finish this is one excellent ale and well deserving of its awards.
