Beer Review – Obolon Oksamytove

Name: Obolon Oksamytove

Origin: Ukraine

Style: Dark Lager (5.3%)

Appearance: A foggy, dark ruby coloured lager. It pours with a nice, soft head of medium size. Excellent head retention noted.

Taste: The aroma is fruity; Notes of cherries and raspberries with a touch of grain. Some sour cherry flavours are also there, with a sweet fig-like flavour. Finishes quite dry, with a chalky, astringent bitter aftertaste.

Mouth Feel: A soft and creamy lager. Medium bodied. It leaves a slightly unpleasant chalky feeling in the mouth.

Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5): Outside of the chalky finish this is a very tasty dark Euro lager.
