Name: Rogue Ales presents Mom’s Hefeweizen
Origin: Oregon, USA
Style: Hefeweizen (Belgium Ale)
Appearance: It pours a cloudy, peach colour. Mom’s produces a medium head that disappears as quickly as I can pour it into the glass.
Taste: It smells lightly of fruity, but most noticeably banana. It is a sweet tasting ale and the notes of banana found in the aroma are also in the taste but it works well. There are some strong spicy tastes as well, most likely the coriander brewed into the beer. The beer finishes with a bitter, citrus-like taste that stays on the tongue.
Mouth Feel: This is a soft, low carbonation ale. It is not sharp on the tongue whatsoever.
Final Thoughts (4 out of 5): Very nice. If Rogue Ales were not eight dollars a bottle I would treat myself to them far more often. Though this is not a fruit beer, Mom’s Hefewiezen contained many flavours of fruits that came out in the ale, blending nicely with the hops and spices brewed into the beer.
