Beer Review – McChouffe

Name: McChouffe

Origin: Belgium

Style: Belgium Strong (8%)

Appearance: A cloudy, brown coloured beer. It pours with a small foamy, tan head that has no retention. There are many floaty bits in the beer as well, due to it being unfiltered.

Taste: The aroma is sweet, with notes of cherries and iced tea. The flavour starts quite sweet with notes of cherries, raisins and some lighter toasted malt flavours as well. It has a very raisin bread-esque character. It becomes more bitter and piney but quickly finishes with a strong bitter-sweet orange citrus aftertaste.

Mouth Feel: A highly carbonated, medium bodied beer. It has a chalky feeling to it. No noticable heat from the high ABV.

Final Thoughts (4.0 out of 5): This is a fantastic dark Belgium strong ale.
