Beer Review – La Trappe Tripel Trappist Ale

Name: La Trappe Tripel Trappist Ale

Origin: Netherlands

Style: Trappist Ale (Tripel, 8%)

Appearance: Right from the pour its easy to tell this is a highly carbonated ale. Its a nice, amber colour, that is just slightly clouded due to the amount of rising carbonation. It has a small fizzy, white coloured head that persists for the entire session.

Taste: The aroma smells strongly of oranges, with hints of raisins and champagne. The flavour is both sweet and sour. It begins with sweeter flavours including oranges, raisins, caramel and honey. Some sour notes are also apparent that remind me of grapefruits or wine. It finishes with a sweet, lingering caramel aftertaste.

Mouth Feel: A sharp and filling beer. Medium bodied

Final Thoughts (4.0 out of 5): I loved this trappist ale. It has a strong palette with lots of strong flavours.
