Beer Review – Krusovice Cerne

Name: Krusovice Cerne

Origin: Czech Republic

Style: Dunkel (Light Dunkel 3.8%)

Appearance: This dunkel is black and cola like in appearance. It produces practically no head when poured and as expected leaves nothing but a ring of fizzy foam around the glass.

Taste:  The beer has a very weak odor, though I thought I could pick out something cola like. Cerne itself is a very bland, watery tasting dunkel. There are some slightly smoky flavours and it finishes with a short-lived, bitter and earthy aftertaste.

Mouth Feel:   Soft and refreshing, though it is a very watery drinking beer. Not much in the area of carbonation or sharpness.

Final Thoughts (2 out of 5): Bland though the unique earth-like flavours were interesting. The beer was far to watery for my tastes and especially for a beer as dark in colour as it was.
