Beer Review – Kirsch Porter

Name: Kirsch Porter

Origin: Germany

Style: Porter/Fruit Beer (Cherry Porter)

Appearance: The beer was a light brown, caramel-esque colour, with just the slightest hint of red. It poured very fizzy, producing a medium sized, short lived head.

Taste: No notes made on the odor. The beer drank incredibly sweet and cola-like. Very powerful, cherry flavours that basically overwhelmed most others. Finishes very sweet and syrupy. It was more akin to a soda then a beer.

Mouth Feel: Soft, noticeably carbonated though not sharp on the tongue. Finished unpleasantly sweet.

Final Thoughts (1 out of 5):  This may have been the worst beer I tried in Germany. How I found it or why I bought it I am not sure. Whats worse is that I had it with a late breakfast, leaving my stomach unsettled and myself groggy until the evening. I would compare this to Bud Light Lime; A beer designed for people who really do not like beer at all.
