Beer Review – Innis and Gunn Rum Cask

Name: Innis and Gunn Rum Cask

Origin: Scotland

Style: Scotish Ale (7.4%)

Appearance: A light copper coloured red ale that is also quite clear. There is not much of a head created from the pour and it has no retention.

Taste: The aroma is overwhelming fruity, with definite notes of apples and caramel. There is some wood like aromas as well. The flavour is sweet with strong notes of raisins and milder notes of toffee and apples. There is a subtle woody oak nestled into the background of this beer. This ale finishes with a sweet raisin-like flavours and a lingering, yet pleasant, oak taste on the tongue.

Mouth Feel: It is a moderately carbonated, medium body and moderately sharp beer.

Final Thoughts (5 out of 5): I have not given a five in a long time, but Innis and Gunn Rum Cask is close enough that I think it deserves it. This ale is an absolute treat for the palette!
