Name: Hofbrauhaus Original
Origin: Germany
Style: German Pil (5.1%)
Appearance: Haufbrau’s bottled German pilsner is a dark yellow, nearly headless beer in appearance.
Taste: It has that common grassy, herbal aroma I expect from a pils. The beer is strongly herbal in flavour, with notes of bitter lettuce. There is some more subtle sour grapefruit-like flavours as well. The beer finishes bitter and citrusy, with a strong, yet short-lived aftertaste.
Mouth Feel: It is quite sharp on the tongue, but refreshing none the less.
Final Thoughts (2.5 out of 5): When I had the Hofbrauhaus Dark in Munich, Germany it was mind-blowingly good. There market Original is disappointingly too much like a standard lager. Maybe it is better while sitting in the beer garden in Munich, but that is probably something I will never know.
