Beer Review – Garrisons Imperial IPA

Name: Garrisons Imperial IPA

Origin: Canada, Nova Scotia

Style: Imperial IPA (7%)

Appearance: A peach, orange coloured ale. It is slightly cloudy and pours with a medium fizzy head that has very good retention, lasting the entire session.

Taste: The aromas are citrus like, but in all honesty I found them difficult to discern. There may have been notes of raisins. The taste starts sweet, with a toffee-like base mixed some subtler hints of oranges. It becomes quite bitter, with strong flavours ranging from pine, floral grasses and some grapefruit like bitterness. The aftertaste stays on the tongue for a good amount of time.

Mouth Feel: A soft creamy ale that is not very filling. It has a medium body and leaves a slightly sticky residue on the tongue most likely due to the high concentration of hops used.

Final Thoughts (4 out of 5): The Garrison’s Imperial IPA is quite similar to the R & B’s Hoppelganger IPA I reviewed last week, though to be honest I like this one just a little bit more.

このビールは 先週のビールより 少し好きです。
