Beer Review – Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel

Name: Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel

Origin: Germany

Style:  Dunkel (5.6%)

Appearance:  A very dark, cola coloured beer. It pours with a large attractive, soft and foamy head that has excellent retention.

Taste:  The aroma is very clean though there is a slightly earthy somewhat sweet smell, but very hard to pick up. The flavour, like the smell is clean and light. It starts with a mildly sweet, maybe banana like flavour, with spicy overtones, giving it an almost cola-esque taste.  Finishes clean.

Mouth Feel: A soft, easy drinking beer. It has a light body and an overall clean palette making it a very refreshing drink.

Final Thoughts (2.0 out of 5): I expect a Dunkel to dunk my face in awesome. This was far too bland for my palette and especially for a Dunkel. Still, what it lacks in flavour it makes up in drinkability; Clean, refreshing and easy to quaff.
