Beer Review – Duckstien Weizen

Name:  Duckstien Weizen

Origin: Germany

Style:  Heffenweisen (German Wheat Ale)

Appearance:  Sadly I was on a train en route to Munich when I purchased and sampled this wheat beer, so I had no glass to examine its appearance.

Taste:  It has a very strongly sweet and flowery scent. The beer starts with some citrus fruit notes. There is a some initial bitterness as well and it finishes by blending more fruity flavours, maybe apples, with subtle hints of bitter chocolate.

Mouth Feel:  Duckstien is a very foamy drinking beer. I found it a little rough on the tongue as well. The aftertaste is strongly of bitter oranges, but also very pleasant.

Final Thoughts (4 out of 5):  Absolutely amazing! I had to drink this warm but I think it improved the overall flavours of this beer. The beer has a lot of citrus-like tastes, but they are balanced well with the other, much more subtle flavours.
