Beer Review – Dos Equis Amber

Name: Dos Equis Amber

Origin: Mexico

Style: Amber Lager (4.5%)

Appearance: It is a very dark, amber colour with a definite red twinge to it. I would actually have to say its closer to copper in colour rather then amber.  The beer pours a nice large head, but that quickly shrinks into a light filmy ring around the edge of the cup.

Taste: Sweet, almost raw beer like smell to it. Definite hint of caramel to its odor. This copper coloured ale has some sweet, toffee flavours, finishes very crisp and clean. Almost no bitterness to it at all and a minimal, sweet, slightly malty aftertaste.

Mouth Feel:  A very soft, crisp drinking lager.  Goes down easy.

Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5):  Probably one of the better mass produced Mexican lagers available in North America. This beer is quite quaffable! In comparison to the clone I did I am happy to say that I was not that as far off as I had expected it was. At least compared the the Amber Lager anyway.
