Name: Brewster’s Czech Pilsner
Origin: Calgary, Canada
Style: Pilsner
Appearance: This pil is a darker, golden colour with some orange twinge to it. There was minimal head to it as well.
Taste: It smells strongly of its Saaz hops, suggesting the use of dry hopping in the secondary fermentation stage. Some sweet grasses also noted in the odor. It tastes intensely floral, with very strong notes of the Saaz hops. This beer is quite bitter, but still some residual sweetness, though difficult to detail, is noted.
Mouth Feel: The Czech Pilsner is also quite sharp on the tongue and has a long, bitter and flowery aftertaste.
Final Thoughts (4.5 out of 5): Hands down the best Pilsner I have ever had. The use of the Saaz hops in all stages of the brewing; the bittering, flavouring and aroma, give an amazing and enjoyable character to this beer. I think this is probably my favorite brew from Brewsters. So much that I intend to create a clone of it for my next brew session.
