This is the first review of my one of my own brews and I will try to be impartial.
Name: Bradinator’s Does Ecky’s
Origin: Bradinator Brews, Canada
Style: Ale (Cream Ale – 4.5%)
Appearance: Basically no head except for immediately after pouring. The beer is an orange-copper colour that is foggy, though not entirely unclear.
Taste: It smells of caramel, with sweet, fruity notes. The taste is sweet, with caramel and apple flavours. There is some grapefruit like qualities in the taste. It finishes tart and citrusy. There are noticeable tangyness which is not uncommon for an extract created brew.
Mouth Feel: Carbonated, but also somewhat creamy. The aftertaste is mildly bitter, but it does not linger.
Final Thoughts (3 out of 5): Not bad, not great, not what I was shooting for. I was aiming for a Does Equis clone and ended up with something between a Sleemans Cream Ale and a Honey Lager. Definitely under carbonated and the lack of head leaves me wondering if I had added the Irish Moss (which I forgot) how much better it would have been. Overall I am happy with the results as it is very drinkable and enjoyable, though it is sweeter then I was looking for.
