Beer Review – Big Sky Brewing Summer Honey (Seasonal)

Name: Big Sky Brewing Summer Honey (Seasonal)

Origin: USA, Montana

Style: Ale (Honey Ale, 5%)

Appearance: A dark gold ale, that pours with a medium white foamy head. It only sticks around for about a minute before completely disappearing,

Taste: The aroma is sweet, with notes of both oranges and honey. Its palette is similar, starting with a sweet orange flavour and subtler notes of honey. It turns to a lemon-like sourness and quite winey. The finish is once again of slightly sweet oranges which is short and ends clean.

Mouth Feel: A soft, light bodied ale. Its clean finish makes it quite refreshing.

Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5): This is a good, honey ale though the sour/winey flavours were seemed out of place. Hard to tell if it was a bad beer or just part of its character due to the use of the honey adjunct. Either way its still a fantastic ale and one I enjoyed from start to finish. America’s craft beer scene is epic. In only a few days I easily picked up 10+ brand new beers, all of them good to excellent in my books. This is the first review of about a dozen to come.
