Name: Biard Beer’s Rising Sun Ale
Origin: Japan
Style: IPA (5%)
Appearance: A foggy, caramel coloured ale, it poured with a nice medium head with good retention.
Taste: Its aroma is floral, with notes of raspberries. The initial flavour is quite tart and grassy, with only small hints of berries coming through. These lead into a sweeter raspberry-esque finish.
Mouth Feel: The Rising Sun Ale is light bodied, filling and soft. Due to the heavy bitterness it leaves that all-to-familiar chalky feeling in the mouth.
Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5): It’s a good beer, as I enjoy strongly hopped ales, though I preferred Biard Beer’s Red Rose Amber. A rare beer this is, that starts bitter and finishes sweet.
