Name: Arrogant Bastard
Origin: USA, San Diego
Style: Imperial IPA (7.2%)
Appearance: A cloudy, deep copper coloured ale. It pours with a smell, filmy head, tan in colour with decent longevity.
Taste: There is citrus and orange in the aroma, from the large amount of Chinook hops used. The first sip is an assault of hops in your mouth; intense citrus bitterness dominates the flavour profile. Some other notes of both bitter coffee and chocolate-like flavours. There are some subtler flavours of sweet malts and oranges detectable, but overall this is just one very heavily hopped beer.
Mouth Feel: A creamy, easy drinking beer. Medium bodied.
Final Thoughts (4 out of 5): At 80+ IBU this beer, like so many others that I enjoy, is not for the uninitiated beer drinker. An absolutely fantastic IIPA. It’s no wonder everyone wants to make clones of this!
