Beer Review – Amber’s Sap Vampire Maple Lager

Name: Amber’s Sap Vampire Maple Lager

Origin: Canada, Edmonton

Style: Specialty/Flavoured Lager (5.3%)

Appearance: A light golden colour, like that of peach juice. The is basically no head for this beer, except for a very small, short-lived one during the initial pour.

Taste: This lager smells strongly of maple syrup. The initial drink starts very sour and citrus-like, reminding me of lemons. The sourness disappears and becomes a very strong and sweet maple taste. This lager finishes with a linger, sweet maple aftertaste.

Mouth Feel: Not very carbonated or sharp on the tongue.

Final Thoughts (2.5 out of 5):  This is one for the books I think. I have never experienced a beer that is so overwhelmingly sour and sweet at the same time. It is almost like drinking a maple wine, versus an actual beer. That
