Beer Review – Alley Kat Cringer Ale

It’s been over a month since my last review. Too be honest I have only tried a couple new beers in the past several weeks so now I am drawing on old, unwritten reviews I have saved for these dry periods. With the child coming any day now beer is off the menu.

Name: Alley Kat Cringer Ale
Origin: Edmonton, Canada
Style: Fruit Ale (4.8%)

Apperance: A cloudy, caramel coloured ale, that pours with a soft, creamy head. Excellent retention.

Taste: The aroma is sweet and cranberry like, also with some spicy ginger that really dominates. The flavour is similar, starting spicy, with strong notes of ginger on a malty background. Some sweet notes of cranberries are detected which balances the strong spiciness of the ginger.

Mouth Feel: Medium body, filling, creamy to drink. Surprisingly easy to quaff considering the ingredients used to spice up this ale.

Final Thoughts:3.5/5 – A very unique and interesting beer from Alley Kat. I drank this back in the Christmas season so it really fit well with the holidays. Even though its called Ginger Ale, it is NOT a ginger beer, but rather an ale spiced with ginger and cranberry.

I believe this is approaching Everest. Great shot by my friends!
