Posted by bradinator in Fitness, Routines on August 31, 2010
Warm Up – 5 Rounds of 20 repetitions for time
- Pushups, Situps, Squats
Time was 6:02
Routine of the Day - 21-15-12-9-6-3 for time of
- Sumo High Pull Dead Lifts (65lbs)
- Push Press (65lbs)
Time was 9:32.
Cash Out Routine - 100 Repetitions for time of Glute-Ham Situps for Time
Final time was 4:00 on the dot.
I have been dreaded this workout since I saw it posted on Crossfit, even with the substitutions and scaling. I dropped the Push Jerks for Push Presses and used a 65lbs bar rather than a 75lbs bar. What I want to know if how some of the other people did this in under 4 minutes. That is 148 reps completed in less the 240 seconds, or rather 1 rep every 1.5 seconds… I am not doubting that they did it in these times, but I have trouble imagining someone moving that fast.

Routine of the Day – Handstand Pushups and Pullups
Posted by bradinator in Fitness, Routines on August 30, 2010
Warm Up - 5 Rounds, 20 repetitions per exercise, for time
- Pushups, Situps, Squats
Final time was 5:25
Routine of the Day – 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 for time of
- Handstand Pushups (1 inch from the ground)
- Pullups (strict form, chin to bar)
Time was 13:36
I did my best to adhere to the strict form for both the HSPU’s and Pullups. The Crossfit version of this requires ‘nose-to-ground’ HSPU and ‘chest-t0-bar’ dead-hang Pullups which would have been much more challenging. Even so I am pretty happy with my final time.
Brew Day – Can it be fermented?
Posted by bradinator in Beer, Home Brewing, Photography on August 30, 2010
Have you ever looked at something and asked yourself that age old question: Can I turn that into alcohol?
Well I know I have! I have decided to begin experimenting again with several small brews in an attempt to make some tasty drinks to keep my pipeline flowing. There is more to it than just making alcohol, because that is easy. What is not easy is making something tasty from into alcohol.
My first trial is a full batch of hard lemonade. The ingredients are as follows -
- 5 cans of generic frozen lemonade concentrate
- 2 cans of pink limonade concentrate
- Approx. 6 cups of dextrose
- Approx. 2 cups of cane sugar (table sugar)
- 2 diced lemons
- 1 pack of SafAle S-04 yeast
There isn’t much of procedure outside of cleaning, dumping the ingredients into the fermentor and measure the temperature before pitching the yeast. The rest of the work is up to the SafAle S-04 yeast. \
Original Gravity was 1.040.
Routine of the Day – Run, 5KM

Routine of the Day - Run 5KM
Final time was 28:40
Yes, today is the day. I ran the full 5KM, no stopping, shooting for a time faster than 35 minutes. I thrashed that goal liberally with a final time of 28:40, giving me a much better than last time average speed, 10.5 KM/Hr.

Posted by bradinator in Fitness, Routines on August 27, 2010
Warm Up - 5 Rounds, 20 repetitions each
- Pushups, Situps, Squats
Final time was 5:23
Routine of the Day – 5 Rounds for Time
- 50 Jump and Touch (~16-18 inches above standing reach)
- 40 Squats
- 30 Pushups w/ Pushup bar
- 20 Knees-to-Elbow
- 10 Pullups
Final time was 19:23.
For the jump and touches, I measured the distance from the ceiling to with a measuring tape and its exactly 18 inches… Though honestly I could not hit the ceiling every time… I got it most of the time, but not every time.
