Beer Review – Obolon Premium Lager

Name: Obolon Premium
Origin: Ukraine
Style: Dark Ale (5% ABV)
Appearance: A pale, crystal clear gold colour lager. This beer creates a fizzy, small head with decent retention
Taste: Immediately I noticed the strong grassy and floral odours from this lager. Obolon Premium tastes like so many other lagers; mild cracker-like flavours, strong bitter notes reminding me a lettuce or grasses. There is a mild sweetness that comes through in a slightly floral taste.
Mouth Feel: Fizzy in the mouth, not overly filling or hard on the tongue.
Final Thoughts (2.5 out of 5): Did you know Russia and Ukraine do not use the Roman alphabet? This makes it incredibly difficult to determine the name, origin and producer of a beer. Thankfully Google exists to aid me in discovering this very important information. They have a Canadian website detailing the locations you can purchase this beer and how the ‘premium’ lager uses ‘premium’ adjuncts like rice…
Japanese Journal Entry – 今日は スーパーの買い物する!

今日は 土曜日です! もうすぐ スーパーに 行かなければならないんです。 家には 食べ物は あまり ありません。
Today is Saturday! Soon I must go to the Super Market. In my house there is not very much food.
朝食に ひつような ぶんだけ 食べ物が ありました だから おなかが すきませんでした!
For breakfast there was just enough food necessary so I did not stave!
野菜や 果物を たくさん 買うでしょう。 でも。。。 野菜を 食べすぎて くさくなります。。。
I will probably buy lots of vegetables and fruits. But… Eating too much vegetables makes me stink.

Beer Review – Hockley Dark Ale

Name: Hockley Dark
Origin: Canada
Style: Dark Ale (5% ABV)
Appearance: Its a dark, reddish colour. Pours with a large, foamy head that has very good retention.
Taste: Hockley’s Dark has a very strong aroma of hay and grain. The beer itself tastes breads and strong notes of bitter coffee. This beer is somewhat watery despite its strong aroma.
Mouth Feel: Soft and light on the tongue. Due to its wateriness, it is quite refreshing for a darker beer.
Final Thoughts (3.5 out of 5): Canned beer tends to be on the lower quality side of the scale though sometimes there are exceptions. This is one of them.

Warm Up – 3 Rounds for Time
- 30 Pushups
- 30 Janda Situps
- 30 Squats
- 10 Burpees

Routine of the Day, Part 1 – 120 Somethings
Go until failure for pullups. Whatever number of reps obtained complete the same for the Ring Dips and Squat Thrusts. Use as few rounds as possible to complete 120 Pullups, 120 Ring Dips and 120 Squat Thrusts.
For example, first round you get 15 Pullups, you will do the same number of Ring Dips and Squat thrusts. Subtract this from the 120. Rinse, lather, repeat. Pain.
With the 14lbs training vest it took 19:54 seconds to finish and 19 rounds.
Routine of the Day, Part 2 – The Punishment
Take the number of rounds required to complete the part 1, multiply it by three and do finish that number of weight pushups.
So… 19×3 = 57 Weighted (backpack+training vest ~45lbs) Pushups
Finished in 5 rounds, 2:06.

Japanese Journal Entry #16 – 見にくい すし

きのう 昼ご飯に(ひるごはん) すしを 作りました。 始めに(はじめ) ごはんを 慮利(りょり)を しました それから ごはんを のりの上に まぶしました。 でも。。。 ごはんを 使いすぎましたよ。 すしは おおきくなりました そして 見にくい みました! とても 見にくい すし。。。 でも すしの味は(あじ) まだ ちょっと おいしいでした。
Yesterday for lunch I made sushi. To start I cooked the rice and then I covered the dried seaweed with the rice. But… I used to much rice! The sushi became big and looked ugly. Very ugly sushi. But the sushi’s taste was still fairly delicious.
